I’ve tried for years to figure out a way to describe my photography. The subject matter is all over the place. Just recently it occured to me that most of my favorite subjects are… ignored. Most people ignore abandoned buildings. People really ignore their surroundings at night. Trains? Nobody notices trains!
Forgotten
Abandoned structures have always fascinated me. There are so many different aspects to them, that I don’t even know where to begin. What stands out the most to me when I am in any abandonment is, “How did it come to this?”. Many of the places I have been to represented joy to people, some pain and many even made the United States and it’s cities what they are today. Yet here they are, forgotten… ignored.
I am pretty sure that I can trace my attraction to forgotten places back to Comiskey Park on the southside of Chicago.
