Brach's Candy Factory

The 30 acre, 13 building, 2.1 million square foot, Brach's Candy Factory shutdown in 2004 when the Gold Realty Group purchased it for $2.2 million. The company announced in January 2001 that production would be moved to Argentina and Chattanooga, Tennessee. In the early 1990's 2,300 employees turned out over 150 candy lines.

Even though the company spent $76 million to upgrade the facility in the early 1990's, it was shutdown due to dated production standards. Several of the buildings date to 1924.

Scrappers have destroyed many of the buildings. Hollywood will do it's part as well when Batman First Knight will film an explosion scene in 2007.
